FlightService (the app) is an iOS application developed and distributed by Third Coast Software Development, Inc. (the developer).
This page is used to inform uses of the app of our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information by those using the app.
Flight Service has been purposely designed to provide as much functionality as possible on the device without necessitating the use of the Internet or data sharing of any kind. With that in mind, there are only two cases when the app utilizes the Internet to access or send information.
If you choose to view the weather information for a specific airport, the app sends only sends the ICAO identifier of the airport. No other identifying information is transmitted. Also, these requests are not logged either within the app or on the server that provides the weather information.
The app allows you to request to receive an airport’s METAR at a specific date and time via a push notification. When you use that feature by tapping on the “Schedule Weather Notification” button, several pieces of information are securely transmitted to us:
This is the bare minimum amount of information that we need in order to provide this feature. No other information is transmitted to us.
If you grant the app permission to use your location, it will only use it when you take advantage of the “Airports Near Me” feature. When you use that feature, your current location (latitude and longitude) are used to search the app’s internal database of airports to find the ones nearest you. At no time is your location information transmitted over the Internet. All uses of your location are performed on your device using information stored in the app. Once the app has located the airports nearest you, your current location is disposed of. No historical location data is saved in the app.
The app does not use any third party services that may collect information used to identify you.
Crash Data
In the rare case that the app crashes or has an error, through Apple, we collect data and information about the crash or error. This may include the “stack track” of what the app was doing when the error occurred, no personal or identifiable information is transmitted as part of the crash data.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
