How would you like to have information on over 10,000 airports right on your iPhone or iPod Touch? How about almost 3000 navigation aides too? This application does not use a web service for this information. It is all contained right on your iPhone. So, there is no Internet connection necessary to look up and view information.
FlightService allows for just that. You’ll get all that plus the ability to maintain a list of favorites and view airports near your current location.
Being involved in Air Traffic Control, we’ve heard many pilots be cleared to “Keeler” or “Gipper” or “Peck” only to have to request the identifier from the controller. (That would be ELX, GIJ and ECK.) Flight Service provides a quick and easy way to lookup information like frequency, latitude/longitude information.
